I used to be a freelance in a tennis competition called Thailand Open 2007. I was working for The Nation Newspaper, one of English-language newspapers in Thailand. I was assigned to shoot some video’s to put in The Nation website BUT It was the first time I was a camera man and worse, i had to edit that recorded video’s myself. I never did it before but it was a MUST. However, I found my work pretty cool haha, I’m amateur!

The first one : Spaniard hunk Feliciano Lopez drops his racquet to learn boxing lesson with Olympics gold medallist Somluck Khamsing….I was so excited shooting the video as I got to talk directly to Feliciano, he was super friendly!

The second one: The Thai twins won doubles final…I was kind of proud of editing this video as it seemed to me everything was perfect ( you’d better turn the sound on), the music and each scene got well together!

I’m one of those who have to enjoy New Year holiday at home. There’s nothing better than takin a nap, eating, listening to music and watching TV! Sounds like I’m a couch potato, err sort of!

I was too free on this lovely Saturday, still has nothing useful to deal with, thus I took my time on a Japanese movie, no actually it’s an animation called “Spirited Away”.

It was released in 2001 but I just got to know it six years after that or just a month ago. My friend from university is a movie maniac and he has been convincing me that this film is splendid. I finally borrowed its CD from another of my friend.

The story was about a girl named Chihiro and her parents who got lost in a strange city while they were on the way moving to their new house. Chihiro’s parents were transformed into pigs and the girl was struggling all the way to turn them into normal along with the help from a boy called Haku. She had to work in a bathhouse owned by a witch Yubaba who almost got Chihiro’s spirit by making her forget who she was. The girl ventured through many adventures and finally got her parents back.

Excuse me, do not consider it as only the animation! This one is special, it’s unique with its plot, characters, creativity and some good points that were expressed out by a famous director Hayao Miyazaki. You will be surprised to know how many gorgeous awards the animation has got including prestigious Oscar - Best Animated Feature, check it out for more awards http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245429/awards

Hollywood is not always the best, If you are not too busy, try “Spirited away”. I was even spirited by the movie.

I’ve been curious about those who are mixed up or people who were born from parents with different nationalities and languages. I have no idea how they live their lives and so on.

Since love affair is beyond frontier and distance gap is just nothing to couples who speak in different languages, own different eyes and hair color and have a variety of cultures, they can easily link the gap and eventually get married.

I’ve been wondering how the kids, who are born from those couples, are brought up, what language they are taught to speak and what culture the parents expect they to cling to. Who is the one to decide on what the kids are supposed to be, a father or a mother?

The most important thing, what are those kids proud of when they are mixed with two (in some case is more than two) nationalities of their parents? Suppose that the kid is born by Thai mother and American father, what’s the kid’s pride? Being American or Thai? And why?

World class golfer Tiger Wood is half Thai and American, his mother is Thai while his father is American. I don’t think so many people know about this and I’ve never known he’s proud of being Thai, NOT even talk about his pride of being mixed Thai! Maybe he’s Thai at heart but I just can’t see, yeah hope so!

Today I am willing to spoil those who have picked Bangkok as the destination for their holiday on New Year and also to persuade those rain check holders. Anyway, yesterday I mentioned that Bangkok was boring, for me yes but for all tourists, of course not. As soon as you get to know Bangkok, you absolutely find it one of the most fascinating cites in the word and then you would think I am insane saying Bangkok is dull.

Patpong

If you want to experience something new, fun and weird, learn how to pronounce the place’s name precisely. Patpong is full of pubs and go-go bars with lots of dancing queens who are both real women and queers but you can’t tell which one are ladies or ladyboys. Patpong is very well-known for this kind of thing and all of my foreign friends always ask where the place is, yet I’m never proud of it. How could I be?

Suanlum night bazaar & Lumpini Boxing Stadium

The fantastic shopping place where you can find wide range of goods from antiques, souvenirs, trendy clothing to Thai boxing shorts. You might need a skill in bargaining if you can’t speak Thai as the stuff are pretty costly. Besides, next to the bazaar, there’s a boxing ring called Lumpini Stadium. For ticket reservation, call: (662) 252-8765, 251-4303, 253-7702, 253-7940.

MBK Department store

You can’t find any department store that is very crowded with foreigners than MBK. The mall is open at 10 in the morning and close at 9pm. Do not be surprised if you end up your shopping day with overabundant shopping bags in your hands as the goods are quite cheap with good quality.

Chatuchak Market (JJ Market)

Spare at least one day for shopping at Chatuchak Market since you can’t even walk all over it in a day. The market is open on weekend and that makes the place look like canned sardine. Whether you are just slacking your time at the market or want to break your previous record of shopping, you will finally buy something.

Khaosan Road

You will never reach Bangkok if you don’t make a trip to Khaosan Road! The place is kind of a small alley where numerous stores and stalls lined in. You can even plan for clubbing or just sitting and chilling with some beer and football games on TV not to mention many small salons where specialize in dreadlock!

Ok Happy New Year people!

Long holiday is coming!!!! Can’t wait till it comes! I love long vacation since Bangkok will be like a haunted city with a small number of traffic and people. That’s the unusual thing and that’s the reason why I usually stay in Bangkok during the long holiday!

Anyway, this year I feel like going to an upcountry where lots of beaches can be found! I’m sick of Bangkok!! Although, Bangkok is heaven on earth for many tourists, for me it’s super boring. No good air to breathe in, no nature to enjoy and worse are the crowd and loads of high buildings which give no sign of pleasantness at all!!!

I wish I could escape from this boring city to enjoy my HOLIDAY!

Yesterday appeared a post-coup general election in Thailand. As the Thais know, there are only two main political parties that had fought each other so far and as well as in the nail biting period. I voted for one of them of course while I gave a shit to the other who is just a puppet of a well-known bastard. I’m not gonna mention his name. Actually the political issue is somewhat prohibited among people.

The ignored party has won the election and I consider it as ‘Another Thailand’s crisis’. Damn, I don’t think some of you guys will get what I mean or how the election means to Thai people and the country but you are not to blame at all, thank you for dropping by anyway.

I really regret and am deeply depressed that the party has won. Politic has been the country’s main problem for many years and still, can’t be solved, and worse, the bastard is coming back when this party beat others.

My favourite party has gained a number of votes from people in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, whereas the winning party was overwhelming voted by people in up countries. Well, I’m not trying to be a jerk by setting a social gap or anything but if you didn’t notice, most of educated people well aware what the best thing for the country is. However, I didn’t say that those living in other provinces were uneducated, do not get me wrong! I just meant that the party is too clever, they know how to convince those, how to stir up a royalty and eventually how to destroy the country!

I have done what a good citizen is supposed to do by voting for ‘the best leader’ for the country’s sake. And now I’m really disappointed with the result but don’t know what to do but endure with what is gonna happen.

I feel pretty fine but what I’m worried the most is our beloved King, hope he won’t get upset with LOADS of upcoming problems and corruptions by the shitty, jerk and bastard politicians. Oh yeah, I feel so sorry for you, my Thailand, hope she is strong enough to all the damage she would face.

He’s not a Hollywood star, he doesn’t belong to any catwalks and he’s not a member of any American boy band but he runs in a pitch for a living.

A 25-year-old Brazilian playmaker and AC Milan super star Ricardo Kaka is not only a gifted football player but also a hunk who melts every girl’s heart. With his splendid performances, he has won ‘the Ballon d’Or award’ -  Golden Ball award which guarantees how fantastic he is. Absolutely, he deserves it.

Despite the fact that he is one of the sexiest and the most handsome players in the world, he hardly appears in the front page. Unlike some football celebs, all paparazzi might not have so many chances to press their shutters if they are being after Kaka as he’s not keen to show off out of the pitch.

I’m not AC Milan fan, on the other hand, I’m a big fan of Liverpool and if you are kinda a football maniac, you probably know they are real foes! In 2005, Liverpool and Milan took on each other in the final of EUFA Champion Leagues. No doubt who I went for. ‘Go Go the King of Europe my L’pool’, however, ‘Kaka, you rock!’

I’m Buddhist as well as another 95% of Thai people so Christmas is kinda nothing to us. However, if you have ever visited Thailand especially Bangkok during Christmas or the New Year, you might think I’m a liar as faked Christmas trees are widely seen around. What missing there are a family party, a turkey and other real Christmas ambiance.

I’ve never experienced Christmas, thus I have no idea what REAL Christmas is like. As I’ve seen in many movies, I can imagine when Christmas comes, people will be very joyful with a great party in a house decorated with lights and a lush Christmas tree along with loads of presents under it. I always believe that Christmas is not perfect without snow as the snow makes Christmas a romantic and magnificent night.

The Thai are not excited with Christmas presents preparation as the influence of Christmas has not been rooted that much yet. What impress us during the festival are lightings and large Christmas trees adorned with some lovely gadgets. Most of the trees are not green as they are usually made from other materials like plastic but still created in a tree shape. Some are gold, silver, white, violet, pink and so on. Although they don’t look so real, their elegant looks really stun us.

Anyway, does Santa Claus really exist in the North Pole? Is it possible to send him a mail?

Before I got my current job, I had always dreamt about being a journalist which had been my ambitious since I was in high school. However, life is unpredictable, we don’t know what we are gonna encounter.

Even when I was in university, I still wanted to be a journalist (sport journalist), I was even an intern at a press agency (Sports Desk) and I found it very cool! “Yes, I must be a sport journalist”, said Alitta.

What I like about being a sport journalist are its challenge and great fun. I can also enjoy the games when I cover sport events and I’m really happy writing the news. Besides, sporting celebrity is one of the factors, they do not influence me that much though. You will be stunned when you see them in person, well in terms of their great talents of playing not because of their appearances of course.

The sporting celebs who I’ve met and been amazed were American world-class tennis star Andy Roddick, German tennis player Tommy Haas, Spaniard tennis player Feliciano Lopez, former English national team and Liverpool stars John Barnes, Ian Rush, Michael Owen and David Beckham. They are more than fantastic and they did WOW me!

Anyway, I do hate being a journalist in the showbiz. I feel like they are all busy bodies and that’s super annoying. They’d better find some better things to do rather than wasting their time on celebs. Rubbish! I’d rather be unemployed than being a kind of busy body.

I just realized for some reason I hardly read newspaper these days and I feel really out-of-date. I have not had so much time, thus some little free time has been dedicated to some more fun activities.

When I was younger, I usually read through the Entertainment section first, then the front page and continued some issues which I found interesting, they were of course soft news and criminal issue, yes pretty useless!

All those rubbish were wiped out when I enrolled a university. I majored in Journalism so I have been strongly influenced on always catching up the move of the country as well as the world in particular political topics.

I quit reading those rags and started reading some good-quality daily which offered useful news and events. Most of the newspapers in Thailand are ‘Quantity’ newspaper, they only aim at the number of readers by publishing a large amount of nonsense news such as crime or superstition and of course it works! These newspapers are in top rank of best selling.

Anyway, there’s no use complaining as I have no time for neither ‘Quality’ nor ‘Quantity’ papers.
